SAMUEL
Samuel Kendakur LMHC, Uproot Consultant
Samuel has worked for 15+ years in the mental health field around concerns affecting our society's most marginalized populations through organizing, training, clinical therapeutic work, consulting, and teaching. While there are many avenues through which to ease suffering, he has found that the most impactful efforts come from a deep sense of connection with those you serve. As a member of many of the communities he works with, his interests and investments are both personal and professional. He puts a lot of himself into his work and considers his role as a healer to be both an artistic and intellectual project.
In his work as a therapist and trainer, he uses the self as the instrument of change - it is a deeply intimate and complex endeavor that he does not take lightly. His presence is marked by an accessible personal demeanor, incisive critical analysis, and an agile mix of seriousness and playfulness. He considers it an honor to contribute to collective healing through collaborative dialogue and education.
Training and Experience
Samuel is formally trained in mental health counseling from New York University and is certified in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from Cornell University.
